when a half-gallon isn't

i love ice cream, and what makes it even better (besides whipped cream) is a good sale at the grocery store so i can stock up. it is with great displeasure that i report that the half-gallon carton is apparently going the way of the dinosaur; both edy's and breyers have rolled out smaller 1.5 quart cartons in place of the former half-gallons. suddenly, my sale price didn't seem quite as good a deal for 25% less ice cream. i am on to your tricksy ways, corporate! also, the edy's was not very dense and pretty full of air, amounting to even less delicious product for the money. booo.
